Friday Five: God's mercy

Five Old Testament instances of God’s mercy:

"The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.

Ex 34:6-7

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

1 Chron 16:34

The LORD is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
The LORD is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.

Psalms 145:8-9

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jer 29:11

I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.

Jonah 4:2

Isn't His mercy wonderful to reflect on? Oh that we'd be as merciful to others as He is to us.

His mercy amazes me. He would rather forgive and renew us. We think he desires vengeance but he is compassionate and gracious. Hallelujah! Thanks for writing!
